Feliz Cumpleaños, Toño!

I know I’ve said this before, and I’ll surely say it again. But it bears repeating. We are so lucky to have been adopted into this wonderful Mexican family. We’ve known these people for more than twenty years now and have watched their family grow and thrive.

We celebrated Antonio’s birthday with them on Sunday, at their home in Sta. Teresa—missing only Issac, whose work and a special young woman have lured him to Germany for a year at least. He sent photos of his first walk through snow!

We set the table for eleven, but in the end there were closer to twenty family and friends. Much hilarity and some pretty awful singing.

The highlight of the day was meeting the newest member of the family, Anna Victoria. We’re so proud to be “abuelos canadienses” to her and her big sister, Marifer.

A few photos to mark the occasion:

Nobody loves being a grandpa more than Jack! We figure we have to rely on Mexico now to keep us supplied!
The birthday boy cuts the cake–after having his face smashed into it, as is the custom here!

How absolutely lovely – makes this dreary Gto day much warmer.
